Two Weeks Off Makes Me Stir Crazy!

Yes, I've missed you, too.

I'm not gonna lie.  Having two weekends in a row without events has me a little jumpy.  We were in a good groove and used to the schedule of packet pickups, pre-race nerves, excitement, endorphins, and post-race brunches.  But two weeks off - aaaaggghhhh!

Thankfully, that feeling will be gone this Saturday when we travel to the Tri-Cities area in SE Washington to do a 50 mile bike ride in the Inland Empire Century.  This distance will be a little challenging seeing as how we haven't gotten in a whole lot of riding.  And it's going to be hot over on that side of the hills, with expected temps in the 90's.  We found out, however, that we can get started as early as 6:30 Saturday morning, so that will be our goal.  Beat the heat, then hang out at the BBT alllllll day, baby!!  Or until they run out of bad beer.

For those who don't know, the BBT is perhaps more commonly known as the Beautiful Burbank Tavern.  Okay, that didn't ring a bell, did it?  (sigh)  Burbank is a small town just outside of the Tri-Cities proper (Pasco/Kennewick/Richland) and this is where our dear friends, Kyle and Raynee, live.  They will be our hosts for the weekend which will be AWESOME!  And to round out the weekend of entertainment, my brother Rich and his family are joining us.  Rich, Kyle and I have ridden together for many years at the Courage Classic.  And Camera Crew even joined us for that event a couple of years ago.  So it will be the four of us, with special guest Raynee riding along!!!  Super excited for that!

Camera Crew has Friday off so we'll head over late morning, chillax for the evening and knock the ride out as early as possible Saturday morning.  Staying over til Sunday means plenty of opportunity for Kyle to serenade me!  And maybe cuddle a little.  That would be nice.

I think I promised a list of upcoming events, so here it goes.  I've spaced them by weekend so you can easily see how many events are scheduled for each.

May 11th - Event 17 - Inland Empire Century (50 miler)  www.inlandempirecentury.org

May 18th - Event 18 - American Heart Association Portland Heart Walk - Camera Crew's employer organizes teams every year to raise money for this worthy cause
May 19th - Event 19 - XDog's Havoc at the Hideout - a 5-6 mile extreme trail run www.xdogevents.com

(Then I'm gone for two weeks to Guatemala; Camera Crew is in Moab with her folks -  so when we get back...)

June 15th - Event 20 - Petal Pedal - 30 mile bike ride that starts and finishes at the Oregon Gardens, down near Salem  www.petalpedal.com
June 16th - Event 21 - XDog's Mt. Hood Scramble - 5-6 miles through the brush, across waist deep creeks, across logs, rocks, etc - XDog Events = FUN!  www.xdogevents.com

June 21st - Event 22 - Summer Solstice Sundowner 5k
June 22nd - Event 23 - Running for Risa 5k - at Hagg Lake - a great cause www.runningforrisa.com
June 22nd - Event 24 - Festival of Balloons Twilight Run 5k - in Tigard
June 23rd - Event 25 - Bike Gallery Wine Ride - 30-35 miles in wine country - oh yeah!  www.bikegallery.com/community/wine-rides/

June 26th - Event 26 - Race For the Animals 10k - this one is a fundraiser for vegan awareness, so instead of energy bars I'll be carrying strips of bacon.
We.  Are.  Infiltrating.  The.  Vegan.  Movement.

These events bring us past the halfway point in the 50@50 Project!!  And in only 5 months!  Why, this may be easier than we originally thought.  In fact, Camera Crew did a rough count at the rest of the year and potential events - we could be to 50 by October!  Fine by me!

The weekend after June 26th may bring us to the Wallowa Mountain area in eastern Oregon for a 10k in the small town of Lostine.  Still waiting to hear back from the race organizers cuz the website ain't working.

We are also contemplating an epic weekend in Bend, with a road ride of either 30 or 50 miles the first day and a sprint duathlon the second.  Still mulling over this one - there is epic and then there is stupid.  I fall on the stupid side almost every damn time, unfortunately, so expect that, okay?

Keep in mind that we are also registered for ALL of the crazy XDog events, so look at their website and you can see what we have coming up.  And then there is the Chris King Century in July.  And on and on and on.

Can't wait to get back at it!
